This Serves as a Powerful Reminder

Sixty-eight years ago this Saturday, the nation-state of Israel declared its independence. The unlikely birth of this tiny new democracy represented a miracle of immense proportions and an extraordinary fulfillment of biblical prophecy.

The annual Independence Day commemoration in Israel is called Yom HaAtzmaut and is ordinarily celebrated on the 5th of Iyar, according to the Hebrew calendar (Thursday, May 12, this year) which was, depending upon when you’re reading this, today or yesterday.

Each year Israeli Independence Day is preceded by Yom HaZikaron, the Israeli Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terrorism Remembrance Day. Thus on Wednesday, the entire nation paused to remember the 23,447 security forces who gave their lives defending the nation over the last 68 years, as well as the 2,576 who have died as victims of terrorist attacks.

In the past year alone, 68 Israeli soldiers and police were killed in the line of duty, and 32 civilians, including the elderly and children, were murdered in terror attacks such as stabbings and car ramming incidents.

All of this serves as a powerful reminder as to why Israel needs our support now more than ever.

It’s also why your ongoing support for Jewish Voice is so important and so appreciated. A key part of our mission here is to keep you and others informed, enlightened, and encouraged as prophetic developments unfold. Another key part is combating anti-Israel misinformation while encouraging support for Israel and the Jewish People. We do this through media channels and also through humanitarian aid to impoverished members of the scattered Tribes of Israel.
